It is with sadness that Larry's family relates his unexpected death in Henderson, Nevada October 16, 2025.
Larry was born to James F. McGrew and Elmira Ray McGrew in Aberdeen, Washington. The family moved to Idaho, where he started school at Annex Elementary. When he was 10 they moved back to Aberdeen. He graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1965.
After graduation, Larry was inducted into the U.S. Army on December 21, 1965, was part of the 25th Infantry stationed in Cu Chi, Viet Nam, was wounded and medically evacuated. He received the Purple Heart. He was discharged on December 12, 1967.
After discharge Larry returned to work at Firestone Retread in Portland, Oregon. He met the love of his life, Sharon Carson on October 7, 1968, and they were married in Gresham, Oregon, May 3, 1969.
Larry loved fast cars and big trucks. He drove truck in road construction and logging. Larry began selling cars in 1980 when he was working at Satsop on the nuclear plant construction. Later he opened Larry's Used Cars, in Centralia. He was still active in that endeavor prior to his death.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; two brothers; and two baby grandsons. He is survived by his wife, Sharon McGrew; son, Jason W. (Kristine) McGrew, Olympia; and daughter, Amanda (Ty) Medina, Adna; sister, Elinor Shepard, Lake Havasu City; grandchildren, Carson, Lydia, Marie, Nicolas, Myra, Leia, and Jameson; and a plethora of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held November 21, at the Adna Grange at 1:30pm. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Adna School Scholarship Foundation.
