In loving memory of Kurt Fox: 1958-2026

Posted
Kurt Fox, a lifelong Packwood outdoorsman, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Born in Tacoma, Washington, to Harold and Twilla Fox, Kurt moved to Packwood as a toddler and proudly called it home for the next 66 years. He attended White Pass High School and spent his youth working in the woods, starting out in the rigging to running processor until the downturn of the logging boom in the ’90s. Later in his career, he would join the trades and become a member of the Carpenters and Operators unions until his retirement.

Kurt was a man of simple pleasures and deep loyalties; he was most at home in the mountains — whether he was hunting, jeeping or driving through the hills with a cold beer and his closest friends. Kurt knew his way around a winch line and was handier with a wrench than most. He was the first guy you’d hope to see if you found yourself broke down, stuck or lost.

Kurt is preceded in death by his father, Harold Fox, and survived by his mother, Twilla Bowen; brother, Bill Fox; sister, Anita Fox; and nephew, Jamie Fox.

Please bring any memories and stories to tell and join us for a celebration of life at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the High Valley Country Club in Packwood.
