Born Aug. 18, 1940, in Centralia, Washington, Karen graduated from Centralia High School in 1959 and spent her life in Lewis County.
Karen loved to garden. At one time, she had a beautiful rose garden that she loved.
Karen loved playing bingo, visiting casinos, playing cards with family and spending time with her family.
A proud and active member of the Chehalis Eagles, Karen served as a past president and was honored to be the third generation in her family to hold that role, following her mother and grandmother. When her two daughters joined, they became the fourth generation of members.
In 1979, Karen married Leonard Hoyt, and together they operated several local businesses, including Chehalis Auto and Truck, K L Round Up Tavern, and Chehalis Taxi Company. After retiring to Onalaska, they enjoyed all their animals until Leonard’s passing in 2014.
Karen is survived by her children Jeff (Tammy) Brown, Robbyn Lambert (Dan), Doug (Lalaine), Carmen, Scott Carmen, and Kris (Jim) Schlesser; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister Sandi (David) Davis; sister-in-law Sue Wise; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard; parents, Charles and Genevia Wise; sister Barbara Laymon; and brother Gary Wise.
A celebration of life will be held Jan. 24, 2026, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Chehalis Eagles, 1993 S. Market Blvd., Chehalis, WA 98532.
