Judy Lae Osborn, 84, of Randle, Washington, passed away peacefully on Jan. 6, 2026. She was born on Oct. 7, 1940, in Great Falls, Montana, to Frank Lathan Vining Jr. and Jennie Nora Vining (Hemstad).

Judy graduated from the College of Great Falls in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Shortly thereafter, she met the love of her life, Kenneth I. Osborn. They were married on June 14, 1963, beginning a beautiful marriage and life together that spanned more than 62 years.

The couple first lived in Knob Noster, Missouri, where they welcomed their first child, then moved to Puyallup, Washington, where they built a home and welcomed their second child.

Judy worked for Tacoma Natural Gas Company before the family relocated to Randle, Washington, in 1972. There, Judy and Ken became schoolteachers and built what would be their forever home. Judy taught at Randle Elementary School for more than 25 years, touching countless lives and leaving a lasting impact on her students and community.

Judy lived life fully and joyfully. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading, puzzles, bowling, hunting, hiking, gardening, scary movies, bingo, and the occasional casino win. She especially cherished her annual girls’ trips to Lincoln City with her best friends, spending afternoons burning in her park and, above all, time spent with her husband and family.

Judy was preceded in death by her father, Frank L. Vining Jr.; her mother, Jennie N. Vining (Hemstad); her daughter, Kimberly Brandt; and her grandson, Trevor Brandt.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth I. Osborn; her son, Mark Osborn; her grandchildren, Danielle Haner (Tim), Savannah Moorcroft (Darrin), Chloe Osborn, Lathan Osborn, Connor Osborn, and Sophie Osborn; and her great-grandchildren, Steven Durham-Brandt, Britney Moorcroft, Hailey Moorcroft, Paisley Moorcroft, and Rynley Moorcroft.

Judy will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. To many in the community, she will always be remembered as the best teacher ever. She was a true treasure and will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
