Jim Fay passed away peacefully in the place he loved most — his home — with family at his side.
Jim was born in Chehalis, Washington, to Nelson and Mary Fay. He is survived by his only brother Bob Fay. Jim graduated from Adna High School in 1948. Jim served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.
He worked at Palmer Lumber Co. in Chehalis for more than 30 years and later worked for the Centralia School District as a custodian in a grade school. He loved being around the kids and was a friend to each one.
Jim was a member of the Adna Grange for more than 50 years and a longtime member of Harrison Square Presbyterian Church.
Jim was married to Jean Farrar for more than 30 years, and together they had three children: Jim Fay Jr., Terry Fay and Julie Fay. Jean passed away in 1985.
In 1987 Jim married Carolyn Lewis, a school teacher at Fords Prairie Grade School. Carolyn had two daughters, Jenny Lewis and Tracy Lewis. Carolyn and Jim had 38 years together.
Jim loved hunting, fishing, clam digging, sports and being outdoors. He loved pinochle and playing board games, especially with the grandkids. He and Carolyn loved traveling, visiting more than 12 countries. He enjoyed walks and sitting on the deck listening to music.
Jim and Carolyn had 5 children, 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Jim loved to laugh and smile and was kind to all he met.
A celebration of life will be held at Harrison Square Presbyterian Church on Sept. 13 at 1:00 p.m. Memorials may be sent to the Veterans Memorial Museum and Harrison Square Presbyterian Church.
