James “Jim” W. Roberts 81, passed away Aug. 19 at Banner Hospital in Sun City, Arizona.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anna (Wichert); two sons, Chris Roberts (Tammy Brady) and Brian Roberts (Amy); grandchildren, Calvin Roberts (Stephanee), Hayden Roberts (Rebecca), Kyle Roberts, Kelli Evans (Craig), Noelle Roberts, Lexi Roberts, Kenzie Roberts, Tyson Brady (Michelle) and Shaffer Brady; great-grandson, Caysen Roberts; sister, Geanne Welch, of Centralia; brother, Bob Roberts, of Alaska,; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Lori, and his brother, Don Roberts.

A native of Washington born in Tacoma, Jim graduated from Winlock High School in 1960 and joined the Navy where he served with distinction for four years. When he came back home, he married the love of his life on July 23, 1966. They lived in Centralia and moved around until they finally found their home in Onalaska, Washington, for 38 years. They bought and ran Roberts Grocery for 11 years. It was in this small community that they made their greatest memories and lifelong friends. Jim retired in 2012.

Activities Jim enjoyed with his family and friends were hunting, bowling, water sports, golf and cooking. He was a loyal follower of Chris, Brian and Lori's sporting events throughout their school years and very rarely missed a game or tournament. He was always up for giving the referees some of his advice.

Jim was an amazing dad, husband, grandpa (papa) and great-grandpa. He loved family get-togethers, playing cards and marbles. He will be greatly missed.

Friends and family are invited to join us in a service celebrating Jim's life at 11 a.m. Oct. 7 at St. Francis Xavier Mission, 139 Spencer Road, Toledo, Washington, with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.
