In loving memory of Jacob Ryan Dunnagan: 2000-2025

Posted

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Jacob “Jake” Ryan Dunnagan on May 10, 2025. Jake was born on May 11, 2000 to Ryan and Jeanette Dunnagan. He was raised in Adna, Washington, but also spent lots of time in Randle, Washington. When he was little, Jake and his brother were affectionately known as “The Two Man Wrecking Crew.” A more notable incident with “The Crew” involved a box of cornstarch that left the two of them looking like a couple of powdery snow babies.

In middle school, Jake grew like a weed and quickly became taller than most. He was mellow, even-tempered, and his kindhearted personality started to form. He was a great brother, cousin and friend from the start. Always looking out for the younger ones, riding bikes, taking them swimming or fishing, playing video games or even standing up for them at school if they needed it.

Jake went to high school at Adna and was a Pirate through and through. He loved playing football and spending time with his classmates. Even though he was busy being a teenager, his family was important, and he made time for them. If Jake wasn’t at home, you could bet he was at his grandparents’ house filling that bottomless pit of a stomach he had.

After graduating in 2019 from Adna High School, Jake knew he wanted to work in the trades and thought he’d give plumbing a try. He liked the work and would often share stories of something disgusting he found in a crawl space. He kept at it and the apprentice hours started slowly adding up.

A few years later, he met the love of his life, Tezra Freeman, who shared his passion for the outdoors. The mountains and sand dunes were some of their favorite places to go. Jake liked to camp and was happy to share a good fire with anyone. He also liked to ride motorcycles with his cousin Kelly. Jake continued to hustle and work while studying for his plumber’s test. In February of 2025, Jake passed his plumbers test and started Jake’s Plumbing LLC. The work was becoming steady, and Jake would light up talking about upcoming jobs, getting married and the future. His family was so proud of him.

On the day he passed, Jake was in the mountains with his fiancée heading home after a bonfire with his uncle, aunt and cousin. Without warning, the Lord called him home, just one day short of his 25th birthday.

Jake was preceded in death by his grandfather James “Jim” Pakar. He is survived by his fiancée Tezra Freeman, parents, Ryan and Jeanette Dunnagan, brother, Clayton James “C.J.” (Chelsea) Dunnagan, grandmother, Corinne Pakar, grandparents, Gary and Rhonda Dunnagan, uncles, Justin (Jessie) Pakar, Aaron (Amy) Dunnagan, Jason (Rachel) Dunnagan, nephews, Rhett James Dunnagan and Hudson Jacob Eugene Dunnagan, cousins: Kelly Pakar, Jaxon Dunnagan, Jana Dunnagan, and some very special little ones, Ryker, Nola and Avery.

A celebration of life service will be held at Bethel Church in Chehalis, Washington, May 31, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Jake Dunnagan Memorial Scholarship Fund at Security State Bank, which will be awarded to persons pursuing an apprenticeship or attending a trade school.
