In loving memory of J. Rockey Fuller: 1954-2025

Posted

J. Rockey Fuller, 71, of Chehalis, Washington, passed away peacefully at his home on Dec. 19, 2025, with his wife and daughter at his side.

Rockey graduated from W.F. West High School in 1972, after also attending Lakes High School in Lakewood. He worked as an apprentice meat cutter during high school and retired from Fuller’s Market Basket in 2000 after working there for 15 years as a meat cutter/manager.

During Rockey’s lifetime, he enjoyed hiking, whitewater rafting, fishing and playing league “pool.” He was a rock enthusiast, collecting, cutting and polishing agates and other beautiful rocks. Rockey loved traveling; rock, blues and jazz music; taking pictures of God’s nature and wildlife; and driving his Mercedes-AMG anywhere that had a road to drive on.

Rockey was a kind and gentle man who loved his family deeply. His friends enjoyed his company, loyalty and, most of all, his sense of humor. When Rockey “lost it” over something that “tickled” him, his voice would begin to squeak, his face would turn red, and finally the tears would begin to flow as the giggles overcame him. He will be remembered fondly for a life that was complete with love and filled with laughter.

Rockey was baptized in the Church of Christ in Monroe, Washington, before moving to Napavine with his family in 1984.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joni (Jarrell) Fuller of Chehalis; daughter, Shannon (Fuller) Pennington of Chehalis; son, Sean Fuller of Tumwater; grandson, Cody Pennington of Portland, Oregon; grandson, Riley Pennington of Chehalis; mother, Enid Roberts of Olympia; brother, Ted Henderson (Dolora Henderson) of Olympia; nephew, Nick Henderson of Seattle; niece, Hayley Henderson of Denver, Colorado. Other survivors include half-siblings: sister, Cynthia Fuller-Stephens of Bellevue; brother, Scott Fuller of Lake Tapps; and brother, Lloyd Fuller of Lake Tapps.

Rockey was preceded in death by his father, John Fuller, and his sister, Linda (Fuller) Brown.

A Celebration of Life for Rockey Fuller will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1209 Scheuber Road N., Centralia, Washington 98531, on Jan. 31, 2026, from noon to 3 p.m. Lunch will be served, so please RSVP by Jan. 15, if possible, to (360) 623-0863 or jonifuller2655@gmail.com.
