Gordon “Wayne” Pentecost passed away Dec. 29, 2023. Wayne was born in Roundup, Montana, on Dec. 7, 1948, to Gordon and Doris (McWaid) Pentecost and was the fourth of 10 children. Wayne graduated from Onalaska High School, where he excelled in football and track, also playing basketball and baseball. Wayne loved kids, coaching Little League baseball, football and girls softball. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, clam digging, riding quads, racing and riding motorcycles. Wayne loved the outdoors. He worked in the logging industry for 35 years.
Wayne is survived by Cherie, his loving wife of 51 years, his brother Jerry (Sharon) Pentecost, Rick Pentecost, sisters Judy Phillips, Donna Lester, Kathy Fitzgerald and Susan Lindau, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and cousins. Wayne was preceded in death by daughter Melanie, who he missed very much, his parents, sister Juanita Pope, and brothers Ronald and Kevin.
We will miss his sense of humor, stories and spur of the moment plans. He was always ready to have a good time. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at Shoestring Church.
