In loving memory of Glenl Austin Wear: 1933-2023

Glenl Austin Wear, 90, of Oakville, Washington, passed away peacefully at his home of 37 years, on Dec. 18, 2023.

Glenl was born on July 4, 1933, as the first of 13 children to his parents, Lloyd and Josephine Wear, in Colfax, Washington.

As an underage youth, Glenl joined the United States Army. He proudly served his country for over 20 years before retiring as a SFC E-7 war time veteran. His love of country never wavered.

Glenl became a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, which awarded him with recognition for 25 years of employment upon his retirement.

He was a hard-working man who lived a life of duty and honor. He loved people and engaged others with friendly curiosity and a warm smile. He was known as a generous man.

Glenl spoke fondly of his family. He expressed admiration of his brothers and sisters while telling others that his life was blessed with three families throughout his adulthood. Glenl married Joyce, with whom he fathered six biological children. He later married Shirley and raised her children as his own. As a widower, he married Janet, who he leaves behind, and welcomed her adult children as family. Glenl had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His memory will be cherished.

Glenl will be laid to rest with military honors at New Tacoma Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, at Chambers Creek Chapel, New Tacoma Cemetery, 9221 Chambers Creek Road W., University Place, Washington, 98467.
