Glen Edward Sundquist was born on April 14, 1937, to Evert and Lillie (Ollikkala) Sundquist and was raised on the family farm in Independence Valley, located southwest of Rochester, Washington. He passed away on Feb. 9, 2024.
Glen attended Rochester schools and graduated class of 1955. In school, Glen was active in FFA. Glen was the third generation living in Independence Valley where his grandparents on his mother's side, John and Sanna Ollikkala, had settled with their children Matt, Elvira, Hilma and Lillie; and where three more Sundquist generations continue to reside. Glen took over the family farm with his first wife Sharon (Lake) and they began raising their four children. Glen hired on with Thurston County Road Department in 1967, retiring in 1995.
He is preceded by his father, Evert, and mother, Lillie; sister, Eleanor; brother, Roy; wife, Irene (Fagerness); and step-son, Ronny Munsell.
Glen is survived by his sister, Elvie Olson; children: Linda (Michael) Ridgeway, Laughlin, Nevada; Raymond, Duane, and Tom (Janice) Sundquist, all of Rochester, Washington; three grandchildren: Devin, Ryan, and Kaila; and four great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to Denise Wagner for giving three years of her life to look after our dad, and to Pam Englund for assisting dad's entry into heaven through her powerful prayers at his bedside. Glen will be placed at Finn Hill Cemetery. No services are planned.
