George David Friedman, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully on Dec. 12, 2025, in Centralia, Washington, at the age of 79. He was born on March 24, 1946, in Huntington, Indiana, the son of Joseph and Ethel Friedman.
George married his beloved wife, Joanne (Hebert) Friedman, on June 21, 1969, in Corvallis, Oregon. They welcomed the birth of their son, Chris, in June 1982.
George was a proud veteran who served four years in the Air Force, completing two tours in Vietnam as a power production specialist. His commitment to service extended beyond his military career; he worked as a mechanical foreman at the Centralia Steam Plant, dedicating many years to his profession with diligence and care.
George graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1964. His faith also played a significant role in his life as a devoted member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, the VFW and the Knights of Columbus.
George was known for his caring and giving nature, always willing to help those around him. His personality radiated happiness, and he was centered on his family, who meant the world to him.
George leaves behind his loving wife, Joanne; his son, Chris, and his wife, Andrea; his precious granddaughter, Ainsley; his sister-in-law, Carol Friedman; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ethel Friedman; his sister, Ann Tuttle; and his brother, Andy Friedman.
