Gene Edward Hofferber, 94, born June 10, 1932, in Nebraska, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026.
Gene will be remembered for his generous and loving heart, his kindness to family, friends and neighbors. He worked hard all his life in farming, as a heavy equipment operator and as a truck driver.
He loved to spend time fishing, doing woodworking projects and always raised a wonderful vegetable garden that was shared with others. His humor, quick wit and funny stories will be missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; they recently celebrated 75 years of marriage; his children, Cynda and Fred Johnson, Sue and Roy Gordon, and Terry Hofferber; his grandchildren, Dan Keyes, Ray Randell and Carissa Hofferber. His grandson, Bill Keyes, preceded him in death. He had three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Nov. 20, at Toledo Presbyterian Church, 312 Augustus St., from 2 to 4 p.m.
