In Loving Memory of Gary Wallin 1946 - 2024

Posted

Gary Lee Wallin was born January 9, 1946 in Longview, Washington to Albert and June (McQuigg) Wallin. Gary passed away peacefully, following a year long battle with cancer, on January 17, 2024, with his family by his side.

Gary married Marilyn Blum in 1967. Together they had two children. Gary was passionate about life. In the early years there were two seasons: clamming and slow pitch. During this time, Gary was active with the Winlock Jaycee’s and coached youth baseball. In later years his passion moved to golf, golf and more golf! You could find him on the golf course with his best buddy and friend until the end, John “Big Dog '' Schray. He treasured time with family and was usually seen at every sporting event of his grandchildren. If the grandkids weren’t playing, he was still at the event rooting on the youth.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Al and June and the mother he and his brother adopted in 1988, Lucille Wallin; his brother Terry Wallin; and a great-grandson. Gary is survived by his children Cindy (Michael) Pauley and Mike (Jamie) Wallin; grandchildren Brennan (Ashley) Barcomb, Tegan (Travis) DeMars, Kennedy (Deter) Voetberg, Madison Johnson, Cianan Barcomb, Tanner Wallin, and Catriona Barcomb; and great-grandchildren Faye, Alder, Raidyn and Janette. He was quite proud that two more great-grandsons were joining the crew come July. He is also survived by his siblings Vikki (Crale) Bunger, Rick (Bernadette) Rindahl, Coni (Mike) Ruddell, Mike Rindahl, and Jodi Rindahl.

Gary never met a stranger. He was quick with a joke and would strike up a conversation with anyone.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 am on February 2 at the Winlock Cemetery. This will be followed by a pot-luck gathering at the Winolequa Senior Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity.
