A celebration of life for Gary Joseph Price, 73, of Chehalis, Washington, will be held at 11 a.m. Dec. 16 at the Newaukum Grange, Chehalis, with Pastor Andy Klumper officiating and a luncheon following the service.
Gary Price was born Oct. 10, 1951, to Lloyd and Jeanne (Snyder) Price in Evansville, Indiana.
Gary joined the United States Marines at the age of 18 and proudly served his country for three years, receiving honorable discharge on April 14, 1971. Gary then attended truck driving school in Evansville, Indiana, and enjoyed trucking for several companies, hauling fly ash, chips and logs for Pozzolanic, Haddaler, Fred Moe, Da Paul and B&M logging. His greatest joy of trucking was hauling logs and being in the woods. He continued to drive until he was 71 years old. As he stated, “I just enjoyed it.” Gary's health began to fail and he decided he would retire, but missed his trucking days and his radio buddies.
Gary met and married Nona Hoffman on Sept. 26, 1992, in Centralia, Washington, and together for 32 years celebrated his family of three, having a son, Scott Joseph, and daughters Tara Lyn Jean and Katie Sheyenne.
Gary had great love for his family and took pride in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He attended many sporting activities and family gatherings through his 73 years, always with encouragement and a smile.
Gary enjoyed being out of doors hunting with friends and family, and was always on the lookout for a deer especially while hauling logs. Gary also enjoyed woodworking and made many items for his family. His yard never had a blade of grass more than an inch! He mowed every two days from the beginning of spring to the end of summer.
Gary passed away at his home on Dec. 8, 2024.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Jeanne (Snyder) Price; brothers, David Lloyd, Darrell Glenn and an infant brother; sister-in-law, Glenda (Cline) Price; mother-in-law, Betty; first wife, Mary Colglazier; and many aunts and uncles.
