Francis “Knute” Harold Halvorson of Centralia, Washington, passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2025, at the age of 91. Born March 2, 1934, in Fosston, Minnesota, he was the youngest of nine children. Knute was active in his community church from an early age and served as a weather forecaster in the United States Army after graduating high school.

He married Delpha Derringer on March 15, 1958, in Kent, Washington. They shared 53 years together and were blessed with two daughters: Pamela and Cindy. Later, he married Eunice Jacobson on Jan. 15, 2011, in Centralia, Washington, and they shared 14 years of marriage.

Knute’s professional life spanned many fields, from helping on the family farm to retail work and tugboat operations. He and Delpha later owned and operated the Mossyrock Market, and Knute found joy in his role as a groundskeeper for the Mossyrock School District, where he cherished being involved in the community he called home. Faith was central to his life; he and Delpha were active in the Assembly of God Church, and later, he and Eunice became devoted members of the Centralia Community Church of God.

A talented woodworker and musician, Knute had a passion for creativity and the outdoors. He built countless handcrafted items and played guitar in a local band he helped to form called the Cascade Mountain Boys. He loved camping, long drives exploring new places and spending time outdoors with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice Halvorson; daughters Pamela Halvorson and Cindy Storm; stepdaughters Cheri Lewis and Lonnie Smith; stepsons Hugh Jacobson and Tracy Jacobson; grandchildren Joshua Blessing, Amanda Storm, Tristin Greenway and Travis Greenway; nine step-grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
