In loving memory of Ellen Parypa: 1956-2025

Posted

Betty Ellen Parypa passed away on April 19, 2025. Born in Centralia to Tug and Betty May, she built her life in Lewis County on the foundations of family, compassion, and integrity.

In 1977, Ellen married her soulmate, Joe, and together they created a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. They were devoted partners in life and as co-owners of the Chehalis Livestock Market, where their reputation for fairness and honesty became their legacy. Her professional career at the Lewis County District Court was marked by warmth and professionalism that earned her lasting friendships and respect.

Ellen and Joe were deeply committed to their community, donating countless hours to local benefit auctions and fundraising events. Their efforts helped raise vital support for numerous charities and organizations throughout Lewis County. Their generosity and tireless dedication reflected their belief in lifting others up and giving back to the place they called home.

Ellen’s greatest joy came from her family — she was a loving mother to Katie and Aaron, and being a grandmother to Sophie was one of the greatest joys of her life. She shared an unbreakable bond with Sophie, offering endless love, encouragement, and pride. She consistently saw the best in everyone she met and lived as a shining example of how to lead a generous, honorable life. Her open heart and selfless spirit touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of kindness that will endure.

Her name was Betty, she went by Ellen, but we called her Annie.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; parents, Tug and Betty May; and sisters, Mary Lou, Michele, and Pat. She is survived by her daughter, Katie Neva (Nick); son, Aaron Parypa (Chantell); granddaughter, Sophia Neva; sister, Kathy Chastain (Larry); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. June 8, 2025, at Old Mill Farm, 318 Kruger Road, Onalaska. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Pope’s Kids Place.
