In loving memory of Dr. Gordon Johns: 1947-2025

Posted

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that on Dec. 4, Dr. Gordon E. Johns, 77, reached his end of life here on earth. We take comfort in knowing the next thing he will see is the face of Jesus. His faith in God was the guiding light throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife, Suzy; daughters Jennifer and Janelle (Anthony); stepchildren Jamie (Stephanie), Julie (Joshua) and John; as well as his cherished grandchildren Tre, Mason and Samantha.

Gordon was a member of the Chehalis Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he helped with the weekly slideshows and taught adult Sabbath School.

He was a dedicated and caring ophthalmologist at Pacific Cataract and Laser Institute. He loved his work, his patients, the company and the amazing people he worked with. He was an avid bicyclist, cycling his age in miles every year, and he recently cycled 78 miles to celebrate his upcoming birthday on Dec. 17.

Gordon felt beyond blessed in his life and believed deeply in service, emphasizing the importance of giving back. He volunteered at the Gospel Mission serving breakfasts, as well as tutoring at Lewis County Adventist School.

He delighted in a good game of croquet, opening his home for friends to gather, commune and play. He taught himself woodworking and enjoyed building and fixing things. He marveled at nature, birds and our country's beautiful national parks.

Those who knew Gordon knew he was a man of great morals and integrity who loved his God, his family, his friends and his community. He will be deeply missed by so many.

A celebration of life will be held on Jan. 31 at the Chehalis Seventh-day Adventist Church, beginning at 3 p.m.
