In loving memory of Diana McCutchan: 1945-2025

Posted

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Diana Rae McCutchan (Bartley), passed peacefully and went home to the side of God on Feb. 21, 2025, at age 79.

Diana was born Aug. 5, 1945, in Morton, Wash., to Ray and Hazel Bartley. She grew up in Mossyrock, surrounded by family and friends during the ’50s, the best of times. After graduating from Mossyrock High School, she married Larry McCutchan, and they moved to Chehalis, where they would ultimately raise their sons, Kevin and Jeff.

Diana and Larry were married for just over 60 years before his passing in 2024. In the early years, they lived in various locations around the country, including California and Pennsylvania. Home was always Mossyrock and Chehalis, where final roots were established. Diana raised her family, always providing for them and ensuring they had what they needed to live happily. She loved watching her boys’ baseball games—from Little League through high school.

Diana worked in various positions, largely to support her Boyd’s Bears obsession and regular hair and nail appointments. She loved to travel, whether it be cruises to Mexico or yearly trips to Palm Desert to soak up the sun.

Diana had a remarkably tight relationship with her cousins, dearly loved their time together for lunches, Bible study and annual costumed tea parties. She adored the Mariners, game shows, trips to the Lucky Eagle and Judge Judy. She didn’t miss a class reunion and remained tight with many fellow graduates of Mossyrock High.

More than anything, Diana cherished her grandkids and great-grandkids, who were the light of her life—she never missed an opportunity to be with them. Holidays, especially Christmas, were the highlight of every year, and Diana loved shopping and spoiling her family with an excess of gifts.

Diana will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by sons Kevin (Laurie) and Jeff (Nan); grandchildren Ryan (Julie), Turner and Mary; and great-grandchildren Cadence and Echo.

A celebration of Diana’s life will be held at Mossyrock Community Center on Sunday, June 8, from 2 to 5 p.m. All are welcome, and food will be served.
