In loving memory of Darleen Majors: 1942-2026

Darleen Ruth Majors of Silver Creek, Washington, a woman of true grit and unwavering determination, passed away peacefully Friday, March 13, 2026, at her daughter’s home in Nampa, Idaho, at the age of 83.

Darleen (Dar) was born Oct. 11, 1942, in Deer Lodge, Montana, the daughter of Douglas Richard Smith and Emma Rose Smith.

Dar faced life’s challenges head-on. From childhood experiences in Montana mining camps, evading the dangers of a harsh environment, to balancing a career while raising six children and battling cancer, these life experiences forged her strong values, resilience and self-reliance.

During her lifetime, Dar focused on raising her children, then settled into a career as a hydroelectric utility worker at dams in Lewis County, Washington, where she came to be known as “that dam woman.” She had a gift for making folks feel welcome, notably by hollering “come in the house” upon arrival at her doorstep. Dar lived a life of honesty and reliability. Her quiet strength was compelling to all who knew her.

Above all, Dar was a proud mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. One of her greatest joys was the annual family campout on her farm, where everyone was welcome. She found great pleasure in knitting blankets for her grandchildren, reading, gardening and an endless appreciation for many genres of music.

Dar is survived by her loving children, Dan Majors, Sherri Bollinger (Joe Bollinger), Kathy Larson (Jerry Larson), Marty Majors (Mandy Majors), Dusty Ferguson (John Ferguson), and Hardy Majors (Sheela Majors); her cherished grandchildren, Keith Majors (Kelsey), Ashlyn Bollinger, Korina Gatewood (Justin), Teresa Larson (Doug Robinson), Andree Majors, Micah Majors (Shelby), Jaycie Andersen (Hunter), Jarrad Majors (Colby), Josh Majors (Anna), Josey Majors, Austin Majors (Molly), and Taylor Majors; and her great-grandchildren, Samuel, Isaac, Justin, Jaida, Phoebe, Marley, Kora, Oakley, Clayton, Oden, Alivia, Tucker, Forrest, Buck, Jamison, Finnin, Sophi and Emmy. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon Majors.

Dar’s legacy of true grit, unwavering determination, self-reliance and boundless love will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. We take comfort in knowing she is now at peace, her spirit continuing to guide and uplift all who carry her memory forward.

A celebration of life will be held on June 28, 2026 at 11 a.m. at 651 Hemlock Road, Carson, Washington, 98610.
