In loving memory of Daniel Treat: 1942-2026

Posted

Daniel Lee Treat was born Sept. 16, 1942, in Centralia, Washington, to Vern and Dorothy Treat. He was welcomed into Heaven on Aug. 7, 2026, at the age of 83. He graduated from Centralia High School in 1960 and furthered his education at Centralia College and the School of Forestry at the University of Washington, graduating in 1965.

He married Donna, his high school sweetheart, in 1964. He joined Weyerhaeuser at the Chehalis office, oversaw the planting and care of millions of trees, managed logging slash to prevent and suppress wildfires, and ended his career as land use supervisor. When he retired after 32 1/2 years, he was given a plantation of trees outside Centralia with a sign that read, “Daniel L. Treat Forest Plantation.” He loved to sing in church choirs and The Messiah and performed solos in the Singing Christmas Tree, weddings and funerals.

After retirement in 1996, he and Donna joined Youth With a Mission (YWAM) and, over a period of years, traveled to Hawaii, Ukraine, Fiji and Malaysia, staying two months at a time and sharing God’s love. He and Donna led Bible studies, marriage classes and Freedom Encounter Ministries Pre-Care in their home and church. He was an elder and was ordained by his church in 2010. With his father’s heart, he had many spiritual sons, daughters and friends. He and Donna also volunteered at the local Crisis Pregnancy Center and SAFE Family Ministries.

Dan was an amazing man who always had a smile and a helping hand for everyone he met. He was a humble, kind, sensitive, caring, loving and genuine man of integrity. He was an inspiration to many and a champion for life. He was truly the hands and feet of God, sharing His love with many people. He also loved animals, especially his dog, Trixie, and the many cats he had throughout the years. Dan was a man after God’s own heart, taking care of his wife and daughters and loving them deeply.

He is survived by Donna, his wife of 62 years; his three daughters, Tiffany (David) Johnson, Tanya Treat and Danielle Treat; his sister, Nancy (Allen) Devlin; and brothers, Vern Treat and Jay (Meg) Treat.
