Chris Allen Barr, 66, cast his last line on July 5, 2026. Born on Nov. 1, 1959, to Glen and Pauline Barr, Chris spent his entire life in the Boistfort Valley, a place he loved and never found a good reason to leave.
If you were looking for Chris, there was a good chance he was outside. Whether he was fishing, working in the yard or dreaming up his next outdoor project, he was happiest with dirt on his boots and fresh air in his lungs. Retirement didn’t exactly slow him down — it just gave him more hours to spend outside doing what he loved.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Pauline Barr. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of nearly 45 years, Anita; his daughter, Sara; his son, Brad (Kelsey); his two grandchildren, Calissa and Camden, who always brought a smile to his face; his brothers, Paul (Janet) and Bill (Tracy); and many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends who will undoubtedly have a few good Chris stories to tell.
Chris wasn’t one for formal goodbyes and requested that there be no funeral. Instead, he’d probably prefer you spend the day outside, catch a fish (or at least tell everyone about the one that got away) and do a random act of kindness for someone. He’d get a kick out of knowing that something good happened in his honor — and if you happen to mow your lawn in perfectly straight lines afterward, that’s just a bonus.
