Charles William Sheryl, a long-time Raymond resident, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, at the Willapa Harbor Rehabilitation Center in Raymond.
He was born March 29, 1944, in Ventura, California, to Charles and Mildred (Roche) Moore. Adopted by Bert Sheryl, he was raised by Bert and Mildred.
Charles was a 1962 graduate of South Bend High School. He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1964. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Washington. He married Nancy (Demaray) Sheryl in February 1965; they shared 50 years together until her death in February 2016.
He worked in the lumber industries, which included 10-plus years at Weyerhaeuser. He then worked 20-plus years as a machinist mechanic at the Centralia Steam Plant. He was also a Certified Confined Space EMT member for the Centralia Steam Plant and a CPR instructor. He enjoyed photography, oil painting, stamp collecting and computer repair.
He is survived by his two sons, Levi (Kathryn) Sheryl, of Raymond, and Logan Sheryl, of South Bend; three daughters, Fawn (Danny) Wilson, of Cosmopolis, Chelsea (Adam) Gai, of Watertown, South Dakota, and Cheyenne (Jon) Schultz, of Raymond. He is also survived by one sister, Debbie (Jim) Butler, of Centralia, and eight grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. at New Life Church in Raymond.
