Carl-Wayne peacefully passed from this world to his heavenly home into Jesus' arms on Sept. 5, 2025.
Carl-Wayne was born on Dec. 28, 1941 in Brinkley, AR to Corliss W. Watson and Nina Mae Jones. He was the oldest of three children, his siblings were Cheryl Ann and Monty Allen. His father worked in construction, assembling steel towers in Louisiana, Alabama and Oklahoma. When Carl-Wayne was 14, they settled in California. He graduated from Norwalk High in 1959 then served 4 years at Larson Air Force Base in Moses Lake, WA, where sons Glen and Duane were born. Returning to reside in Granada Hills, CA, he began career as a mechanic in Operating Engineers Locals 602 and 312.
In 1969, Carl-Wayne married Kathy Supple and moved to Chehalis, WA. They had two sons, David and Mark. As a mechanic, entrepreneur, adventurer, and extreme jokester, Carl-Wayne worked in many areas: WIDCO, Alyaska pipeline and Portway Logging in Toledo, Washington. In 1980, he started the backyard business, The Gear Box and moved it to NW State Ave in Chehalis in 1983 (aka Westside Truck along I-5 corridor). The Gear Box is currently owned/operated by son David. In 1992, Carl went on to work for Washington DOT. After retiring, he became a tour bus driver for Discovery Tours, started the Tillerman business and assisted at Centralia College Diesel Tech Program.
Carl-Wayne had great work ethic and integrity, was a creative thinker, and knew no stranger, leaving practical jokes and smiles everywhere.
He is survived by wife Kathy (55 yrs), sons Glenn of Moreno Valley, California, Duane (Cheri) of Nampa, Idaho, David of Chehalis, and Mark (Nickee) of Tenino; Grandkids are Eric, Kasey, Colton, Jordyn, Gavin, Nolan, Kyla; and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his grandson Travis and siblings Monty and Cheryl.
