Carl Cantonwine passed away at Providence Centralia with his children beside him May 10, 2026. He was born in Ogallala, Nebraska, on March 22, 1942, and lived there until he was 4 years old. He moved with his family to Chehalis, Washington, in 1946. He attended W.F. West High School, graduating in 1960, and served in the Navy during Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. He had a 35-year career with Safeway stores, working his way up to produce manager.
He is survived by his children, Curt Cantonwine of Chehalis, Cricket Cantonwine (Dario) of Olympia, and Ksea Cantonwine of Chehalis; and his sister, Jill, of Onalaska. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Guy and Lucy Cantonwine; his parents, Dale and Maxine Cantonwine; and his brother, Cal Cantonwine.
He loved fly fishing and coaching Babe Ruth baseball, especially when his son was playing. He also received much joy from his pet dogs Bosco, Poko, Chopper, Col. Potter, Hannah, Wally and Mickey. He was a dedicated father and loved his family dearly.
