Billie Lee Taylor, 96, of Centralia, Washington, passed away at Sharon Care Center Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, following a long life full of adventure and love.
She was born Nov. 27, 1926, in Port Townsend, Washington, to Harry and Geneva (Clem) Milton, and was raised here in the Centralia area on Fords Prairie and in Galvin.
Billie was a military wife, making a loving home for her family all over the U.S. and abroad. During World War II, she made parachutes in Rhode Island and worked in a Boeing factory in Washington state in support of the war effort.
She was active in the communities where she lived and in her children’s lives. At the family’s various postings, she was involved in the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, PTA and local hospitals. Following retirement, the family moved back to Centralia and she went to work at Dell’s Children’s Center. Home again, she was also active at Immanuel Lutheran Church and volunteered at Providence Centralia Hospital. When she wasn’t helping others, she and Jack traveled extensively around the country in their motorhome.
Above all this, she was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker who loved to cook, can, sew, crochet, play cards and work on puzzles. Especially noteworthy were her blackberry cobblers and her love of the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Geneva; husband Jack; son Jack, Jr; and siblings George and Betty.
Billie is loved and missed by her daughter Jenny, son Jim, daughters-in-law Cathy and Karen, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Colonial Residence, where she lived for nine years, and the staff at Sharon Care Center, where she lived for the last few months of her life for their excellent care and kindness.
Billie will be laid to rest with her husband, Jack Paul Taylor, Sr., at Greenwood Memorial Park in Centralia.
