In loving memory of Beverly Stacey: 1930-2026

Beverly Louise Austin Stacey, 95, passed away peacefully on Feb. 2, 2026. She was born on Sept. 6, 1930, on her family’s farm in Olympia, Washington. She attended McLane Grade School and graduated from Olympia High School in 1948. Beverly worked for Bell Telephone and LeRoy’s Jewelry Store before marrying Melvin Stacey Jr. on Dec. 3, 1949. They shared 69 years of marriage.

In 1964, the family moved to Centralia, where Beverly became deeply involved in her community. She was active in PTA, served as a Brownies and Girl Scouts leader, Branch 8 Hospital Auxiliary, Chapter X PEO, and First Presbyterian Church, where she was a longtime wedding coordinator. She also volunteered at the hospital gift shop and the Presbyterian Reborn Shop and was honored as Volunteer of the Year for her service.

Beverly enjoyed embroidery, quilting, scrapbooking, and cheering on her children and grandchildren at their sporting events.

She is survived by her children, Dave (Kathy) Stacey, Jim (Patti) Stacey, and Mary (Jeff) Kendall; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Stacey Jr., and daughter, Sally VonMoos.

A memorial service will be held at Harrison Square Presbyterian Church in Centralia at 1 p.m. on March 28. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Harrison Square Presbyterian Church. She will be laid to rest at Mills and Mills Cemetery in Tumwater, Washington.
