Anita Duane Dilworth Skeem, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded with love by family on Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, in Washington, Utah, from natural causes. She was born on Dec. 23, 1942, in Gooding, Idaho, to Asael E. and Fawn Dilworth. She married Galen Lester Skeem in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 6, 1961.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Galen L. Skeem; her son, G. Kendell Skeem; her sister, Darla Anderson; and her brother, El Rey Dilworth.

She is survived by daughters, Anelle Landis, (Phill) Missouri, Shauna Teagle, Wyoming, Rhonda Brown (Bert), Idaho, Cali Johnson (Jason) Virginia, Lisa Skeem (Liz), Utah, and Laurie Marx (Travis), Utah; sons, Darren Skeem (Stephanie), Nebraska, Craig Skeem (Sandra), Texas, Marcus Skeem (Stephanie), Washington, Brydon Skeem (Nicole), Washington, and Kyan Skeem (Rose), Utah; as well as 44 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Anita was raised in southern Idaho and had a wonderful childhood. She graduated from high school as the valedictorian of her class. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many various positions in the church, including Young Women’s president, primary president, Relief Society president, counselor in the Stake Relief Society, gospel doctrine teacher, assistant to the matron in the LDS Seattle Temple presidency, and then as matron of the Seattle Temple with her husband as president, a calling they both loved and cherished deeply.

Anita was a prolific journal keeper starting at the age of 12. She kept a journal until she was physically unable to in her late 70s, a treasure she left behind for generations to come. Her proudest achievement and greatest joy were as a wife to her Skeemer, mother to her children, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved and respected by so many and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love and devotion to her Savior Jesus Christ. She will be missed more than words can express.

Funeral arrangements were under the care of Sticklin Funeral Chapel. Services were held Friday, Sept. 29, and an interment followed at Claquato Cemetery, Chehalis, Washington.
