Joe Beck, 39, a Centralia native, was commissioned by Experience Chehalis to paint the new Discover Lewis County mural located at 242 NW Chehalis Ave.
Beck is a former heavy equipment operator turned sign painter who moved back to Lewis County in 2024 after living in Arizona for more than a decade.
He received the artwork from Experience Chehalis and began the process of turning it into a mural by creating a digital rendering which he printed on 3-foot rolls of paper and transferred to the building piece by piece to cover the more than 90 feet of surface area.
The mural features historic locations from Lewis County such as the Claquato Church, one of Washington’s oldest standing buildings.
Beck hopes to finish in the next two weeks.
