American Red Cross employees and donors took part in a Red Cross blood drive in the Lewis County Courthouse in Chehalis on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
It was the second of three American Red Cross-planned blood drives in Lewis County as the organization works to “recover blood products uncollected due to recent hurricanes.”
In an announcement Thursday, the Red Cross said that donations of all types are needed, particularly from those with type O blood. According to the Red Cross, while about 3% of Americans are blood donors, the donations are frequently needed in life-saving situations.
Those who donate through Oct. 31 will receive a $10 amazon.com gift card and will be entered into a raffle to win one of three $5,000 gift cards. Those who donate between Nov. 1-17 will receive a $10 e-gift card to a merchant of choice and could win one of two $7,000 gift cards.

The next local blood drive will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 14 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chehalis Ward, 2195 Jackson Highway in Chehalis.
