Fawns are pictured out and about with their mother off of Brockway Road in Chehalis Monday morning. In Washington, fawning season for deer typically begins in late April to early May and peaks during the summer months, with some fawns born as late as October. During this time, it’s common to encounter fawns that appear to be alone, but they are usually nearby their mother who is nearby and attentive. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) advises people to leave fawns alone if they appear healthy, as the mother will return.
