Attendees inspected the new After School Advantage Technology Lab at the Boys & Girls Club of Lewis County in Chehalis on Tuesday, Feb. 24.

Brightstar Lottery on Tuesday morning celebrated its newest technology lab at the club facility in Chehalis.

The event featured a short speaking program, a special dedication ceremony, a ribbon-cutting and a tour of the facility. In partnership with Washington’s Lottery, Brightstar donated a suite of advanced resources, including an interactive smartboard, 10 laptops and 14 Lego Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) kits.

“Members will have access to a dedicated learning space where they will explore technology and experience hands-on learning designed to introduce them to computers, basic coding, digital creativity, engineering concepts and collaborative projects,” Brightstar stated in a news release.

Boys and Girls Club Executive Director Sarah Althauser published a statement on Facebook after the ceremony: “This is what Future Ready looks like — purposeful tech, robotics and hands-on learning that sparks curiosity, builds confidence and teaches grit, she wrote. “Because when kids try something, it doesn’t always work the first time — so we try again. Deep gratitude to our incredible team, our Development Director for crafting the proposal, and our COO and Site Directors for building intentional programs and training that will take our LEGO room to the next level. A huge thank you to Brightstar for believing in our kids and bringing such collaborative energy to this project. Such a fun win for our kids. And who doesn’t love LEGOs?”
