A Huntington man is accused with one felony and two misdemeanors for allegedly biting a woman, and choking her with his hand, after they argued about a candy bar on Sunday, Jan. 4, in Huntington.
Kyle Allen Harp, 34, is charged with strangulation constituting domestic violence, a Class C felony, fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence, a Class A misdemeanor, and harassment, a Class B misdemeanor.
Police arrested Harp around 1:06 p.m. Sunday. He was arraigned Monday in Baker County Circuit Court and remained in the Baker County Tuesday morning, Jan. 6, on $30,000 bail. He could be released by posting 10% of that amount. Harp’s next scheduled court appearance is a status check hearing Jan. 14 at 1:30 p.m.
According to the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, a caller around 11:47 a.m. Sunday reported a disturbance at a home in Huntington. The suspect was not at the home when the call was made.
According to a probable cause affidavit written by Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel Downing, Harp had an argument with a woman with whom he had had a relationship since last summer.
When the pair argued about a candy bar, Harp “became angry and attempted to bite” the woman’s feet, Downing wrote.
The woman tried to push Harp away, but he then bit her index and middle finger, Downing wrote. He wrote that the woman’s fingers were swollen, abraded and bloody.
The woman also told Downing that Harp had “strangled her with his open hand, causing her to have trouble breathing and have loss of voice.”
