Hunting Highlight: A father-son bond and a boy’s first buck

Posted

“As a local Onalaska resident, our 8-year-old son Jack committed to putting in all of the work, dedication and hours required to obtain his hunting license this summer. Once he successfully earned it, he set his sights even higher: he was determined to harvest his first buck this season. Early this morning, in his own backyard, Jack and his Dad Rudy suited up together, stepping out to chase a shared dream. They share an incredibly close bond, and their deep mutual passion for the outdoors gives them the precious gift of one-on-one time together. When the right opportunity finally presented itself this morning, all of those cherished hours of mentorship, patience and practice came to life. Guided by his Dad, who he loves and admires most, Jack took a steady breath, made the perfect shot, and harvested his very first buck. Sharing this milestone side-by-side created an unforgettable bond and a memory they will both treasure forever. We have never seen this kiddo more proud of his accomplishments and being able to provide for his family. Following a long-time tradition, we marked the occasion with the customary smearing on the cheeks to welcome him into the fold. We are so happy and thrilled that we were able to be a part of his first harvest experience, and we are just over-the-moon excited for him. We are incredibly proud of our boy — proving that big dreams really do come true for little people!  Congratulations kiddo — we love you!” — Submitted by Rudy and Lindsay Rodriguez
