Heat advisory warnings have been issued for Thursday and Friday, with projected temperatures being labeled as moderate and low risk.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), moderate risk means the temperature will be high enough to create a potential danger “for those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.” Low risk entails danger for “those extremely sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.”

Thursday is expected to see low risk temperatures, with a projected 88 degree temperature and an 80% chance of reaching between 77 and 92 degrees. Moderate risk temperatures are expected on Friday, with the projected high reaching 89 degrees and an 80% chance of being between 78 and 99 degrees.

NOAA released safety recommendations for those who will deal with the high temperatures. Area residents are recommended to stay out of the sun between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., stay hydrated, dress lightly, use life jackets while in and around the water, not leave children and pets in cars and stay in cool places during the heat of the day.
