Hash: Centralia closes doors permanently after three years in business

First opened in the Hub City back in March 2023, Hash: Centralia is now permanently closed, according to a Sept. 12 post on the breakfast diner’s official Facebook page.

“After many years of serving the Centralia community, we’ve made the difficult decision to permanently close Hash: Centralia. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who came through our doors, shared a meal with us, celebrated with us, and supported our team over the years,” Hash: Centralia said in the post. “Thank you, Centralia, for being part of the Hash family. We’ll always appreciate the memories we made here. Come visit us in Olympia next time you’re around!”

Hash: Centralia was the second Hash location opened by restaurateurs Dean and Lisa Damitio, who had been renovating the building where Hash: Centralia was located going back to the start of 2021, as previously reported by The Chronicle.

“We came in here right when COVID hit, so that shut us down. Then the second round hit and that shut us down again. So it’s just been a long, arduous process of getting this place ready since it needed a lot of work,” Dean said in the 2023 Chronicle business feature.

The diner was located at 1232 Alder St., just off of Exit 81 on Interstate 5 and just around the corner from 24-hour grocery store WinCo Foods Centralia.

They opened the original Hash in Olympia back in 2018 as just a coffee shop with a handful of breakfast options, but kept expanding the menu as they kept getting busier.

Despite the Damitio’s success with their original Olympia location and WinCo opening in April 2025, Hash: Centralia now joins the list of restaurants at that location which eventually closed.

Previously, the building has been the location of PJ’s Pizza, Legends Sports Bar & Grill and the Coconuts Island Grill.

For those looking to get some of the unique eggs benedict varieties and the famous breakfast hash from the Damitios, Hash’s original location is at 1807 Harrison Ave. NW, Olympia.

It is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
