In the battle between the two top scorers in the Central 2B League, James Grose beat Zach Swanson by 10 points, and Grose’s teammates beat Swanson’s by a further seven to give Napavine a 74-57 win over Toutle Lake in Cowlitz County.
Grose dropped 36 points on 12-of-24 shooting, drilling six 3-pointers and going 6 for 7 from the free-throw line. Jarin Prather added 17 points, while Karsen Denault had eight points and a team-high nine rebounds and five assists.
For his own part, Swanson finished with 26 points and also shot 50% from the field, but the rest of the Toutle Lake lineup went a rough 3 for 20 from beyond the arc.
Napavine led by eight points at halftime, then went on a 24-14 run in the third quarter to put things well and truly out of reach.
The Tigers (2-0, 2-0 C2BL) will take on Toledo on Thursday.
