Green Hill School officials removed a former employee following an internal investigation into alleged misconduct with an incarcerated resident at the juvenile detention facility, according to the Washington state Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF).

DCYF said the investigation has been referred to local law enforcement and Child Protective Services.

According to a Friday news release, Green Hill staff began the internal investigation following a tip received on March 11.

The employee was “immediately assigned to other duties,” according to the release.

DCYF stated the individual was no longer a DCYF employee as of March 13.

"The safety of young people in our care is our highest obligation and we remain committed to maintaining a culture at Green Hill focused on rehabilitation and no tolerance for misconduct," said Harold Wright Jr., superintendent of Green Hill School.

According to DCYF, “staff are immediately placed on administrative leave or assigned to duties that do not involve interacting with young people” while under investigation.

“In cases where staff are on probation, the agency can take immediate action,” the release stated.
