First opened in Chehalis by Bill and Ed Fuller in 1941, the lone remaining Fuller’s Market Place in Centralia will host its grand reopening ceremony this upcoming weekend on Saturday, July 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to a news release.

Fuller’s previously belonged to Darris McDaniel, who ran it as a part of his multiple Shop’n Kart locations. McDaniel sold the business to Harneck “Nick” Dhudwal last fall.

During the grand reopening event, free food and samples will be distributed along with free ice cream for attendees, and local food trucks will also be on site. Attendees will be eligible for free giveaways, product demonstrations will be given, and KMNT Country 104.3 FM will be broadcasting live from the event.

At noon, the Centralia-Chehalis Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially celebrate the business coming under new ownership.

Fuller’s Market Place is located at 505 S. Tower Ave. in Centralia.

The last remaining location of a once-thriving local family-owned supermarket chain, there were once three Fuller’s in the Twin Cities area. In 2006, the company announced the closure of its flagship store in Chehalis. Its other location in Fords Prairie closed in 2004. After turning 81 last year, McDaniel decided to sell the Centralia location.

Nick and his wife, Ginni, have been living in the U.S. since immigrating in 1994. They moved to Chehalis in 2001 where they have been ever since.

They both previously thanked the community for the support they’ve already been shown even before becoming the owners of Fuller’s.

Together with his business partners, Nick now runs 20 businesses throughout the region, including the Pearl Street Grocery & Deli, also in Centralia.
