Friday's 2A Track & Field: W.F. West Boys Win Evergreen 2A Conference Team Title

The W.F. West boys tallied 195 points to win the team title at the Evergreen 2A Conference track & field championships at Tiger Stadium in Centralia on Friday.

Gerardo Sanchez-Carpio won the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.28 seconds for the Bearcats. Francisco Lima won the 3200 meter race (10:20.65).

The 4x100 relay team of Troy Yarter, Carver Brennan, Jaiyden Camoza and Sanchez-Carpio won with a time of 43.80 seconds.

Colby White won the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 4 inches and won the triple jump (42-07). White also finished second in the long jump (20-04). Lafe Johnson won the pole vault (14-00) and teammate Thomas Koenig finished second (13-06) for the Bearcats. Connor Russell finished second in the 110 meter hurdles (15.35) and the 300 meter hurdles (42.12).

Brennan finished third in the 400 (51.02) and Ashton Lannoye took third in the discus (130-10).

The Tumwater boys finished second with 190.5 points and Black Hills placed third with 113 points.

Centralia’s Cameron Lawson finished third in the 200 (23.30) and the 4x100 relay team of Andrew Kahn, Lawson Cameron Moore and Sha’Ron Settles placed third with a time of 44 seconds.

Rochester’s Ian Lupardus qualified for districts in the 110 meter hurdles, placing third with a time of 16.37 seconds.



The W.F. West girls finished second as a team. Kelly Robertson won the 300 meter hurdles (50.74) and Megan Flexhaug won the pole vault (10-00). Maliyah Lockwood took second in the triple jump (29-11), Kyla McCallum finished second in the javelin (102-04) and Taya McCallum earned second in the discus (105-09). Olivia Braun took second in the 100 meter hurdles (19.02).

The 4x200 relay team of Nina Heither, Courtney Bennett, Kylee Spears and Roberton finished second with a time of 1:49.61. The 4x400 relay team of Spears, Bennett, Heither and Robertson also finished second with a time of 4:15.27.

Elaina Koenig finished third in the 800 (2:34.07) and Brianna Powe finished third in the discus (100-02). Bennett earned third place in the javelin (101-07) and Ryan Correia placed third in the pole vault (9-00). Isabella Landers took third in the long jump (14-01.50) and the triple jump (29-07) for the Bearcats.

Tumwater won the girls team title with 191.5 points. The Bearcats were second with 150 points and Black Hills finished third with 102 points.

Centralia placed fourth with 84 points. Bailey Powell won the 100 (12.76) and the 200 (27.22) and Lucy Nowicki won the 400 (1:04.38). Makayla Erickson won the 3200 (12:35.25). Kacey Emery placed second in the shot put (31-11.50) and Samantha Arthur earned third in the shot put (31-02).

The 4x100 relay team of Tawnee Craig, Anastasia Ulrigg, Rebekah Robbins and Bailey Powell took second with a time of 51.93 seconds.

Rochester’s Kate Peltier won the triple jump (30-06) and Amerika Jones placed third in the 100 meter hurdles (19.18) and fourth in the 300 meter hurdles (56.59).

The top placers advance to the 2A District 4 Championship meet next Friday at Fishback Stadium in Washougal.
