A Longview man was sentenced Monday for raping a child in July 2022.

Cowlitz County Superior Court Judge Thad Scudder sentenced Anthony Wade Hoffman, 25, to seven years and nine months in a Washington state prison. In addition to his prison stint, Hoffman is subject to a lifetime no-contact order, will be placed on lifetime community custody, and must register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

Hoffman was convicted by a jury on Dec. 16, 2024, of first-degree rape of a child and first-degree child molestation.

According to court documents, the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office was alerted of the abuse by the victim’s father on Aug. 24, 2022. The encounter took place on a property around Castle Rock and Silver Lake, according to the police report that led to Hoffman’s arrest.

The child told authorities Hoffman touched her multiple times and he made her touch his genitals. He denied the allegations. In a pre-sentencing report, the victim’s father asked that Hoffman serve enough prison time to “ruin his life.”

While flipping through paperwork on Monday, Scudder said Hoffman, who had a mental health evaluation, “wasn’t really interested in treatment.”

Hoffman, who was 22 years old when the incident occurred, said in a pre-sentencing report that he felt “cheated in a way.” He told the authorities not all the evidence had been presented.
