Fluetsch, LeBaron go deep in Rochester’s win over Hoquiam

Macey Fluetsch and Arissa LeBaron both hit their first home runs on Wednesday against Hoquiam, helping the Rochester softball team top Hoquiam 10-1.

Rochester coach Joni Lancaster said that she “knew the day” was coming for Fluetsch, and she also noted that Lebaron has put in a lot of time over the last two years.

“She deserves all the credit in the world,” Lancaster said.

The duo combined for eight RBIs.

After Hoquiam took a 1-0 lead, the Warriors (2-2) tied the game in the third, then took a 3-1 lead with a pair in the third.

That was more than enough run support for Layna Demers on the mound, who allowed just three hits and an unearned run while striking out seven through six innings.

For good measure, Rochester pulled away with a seven-run sixth, one that put the game out of reach.

McKenna Vassar went 3 for 3 at the plate, and Addi Morgan went 2 for 4 with a double.

The win got the Warriors back to .500 on the year, and they’ll open league play on Friday at home against Aberdeen.
