An Emirates flight from Dubai landed at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Thursday for the first time since the war in Iran began nearly two weeks ago.
Flights between Sea-Tac and its two Middle Eastern destinations — Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Doha, Qatar — were canceled beginning Feb. 28, along with thousands of flights around the globe as airspace in the region was shut down because of the deadly conflict. Hundreds of thousands of people reported being stranded while major flight hubs were closed or on limited service.
The Emirates flight took off from Dubai on Thursday morning, local time, and arrived at Sea-Tac nearly 16 hours later. The return flight to Dubai scheduled for Thursday evening was canceled.
Qatar Airways flights to and from Doha remain canceled; one of the airline’s aircraft is parked on the north end of Sea-Tac’s cargo area, Port of Seattle spokesperson Perry Cooper said.
