A hedge between two homes in Vancouver caught fire Friday, and the fire spread to a vehicle and one of the houses before the Vancouver Fire Department put it out, according to a news release from the department.

At about 2:30 p.m., the fire department received a report that a 10 foot section of arborvitae near 10910 N.E. 70th Circle was on fire. Witnesses reported that flames were 30 feet high, explosions were happening, and the fire had spread to a vehicle and house while firefighters were on their way.

Firefighters arrived to also find one wall of a neighbor’s house melting from the fire’s heat. They searched for victims and extinguished the fire while cooling the neighbor’s house to make sure the fire did not spread to it.

The fire department says no one was injured, and three people and a dog were displaced by the fire.
