Five sexual assaults on or near the University of Oregon campus were reported in the past week as the school began its first week of fall classes, university officials said.
In a Wednesday safety alert by the Eugene school, officials said four of the alleged attacks involved students, and the fifth was reported near the Alton Baker Dog Park adjacent to to campus.
One arrest, in the fifth case, has been made, the alert said. It gave no further details on either the arrest or any of the allegations. UO’s fall term classes began Monday, with law school classes starting Aug. 24.
The alleged attacks are not believed to be related, the alert said, “but several alleged perpetrators may have taken advantage of the fact that the victims were intoxicated at social events.”
Both University of Oregon police and Eugene police are investigating. Officials asked that anyone with information about the investigations contact UOPD at 541-346-2919.
According to the 2026 Annual Campus Security and Fire Safety Report, nine rapes were reported on campus in 2025, seven in 2024 and eight in 2023.
