Five people died in a head-on collision on Highway 2 outside of Wenatchee Sunday night, the Washington State Patrol said.
A 2014 Nissan Maxima with four people inside was going west on Highway 2 when it crossed into the eastbound lanes and hit a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic going the opposite direction, WSP said.
The crash occurred near milepost 137 in Douglas County, 11 miles north of East Wenatchee, after 9:30 p.m., WSP said.
A 77-year-old woman from Omak was in the Sonic, which came to rest in the middle of the roadway, WSP said. The Maxima came to rest in the eastbound lanes.
All five people in the two vehicles died.
WSP attributed the cause of the crash to improper lane usage. Drugs or alcohol was involved, WSP said.
