Firefighters, Police Respond After Centralia Resident Tries to Kill Cockroach With Bug Spray, Lighter

Posted

An incendiary idea to kill six-legged invaders resulted in a lot of smoke and the evacuation of several apartments on North Tower Avenue Monday morning.

Fire crews and Centralia police responded just before 9:30 a.m. Monday and blocked off the 300 block of North Tower Avenue after receiving a report of a fire.

A resident was reportedly trying to kill cockroaches by using aerosol bug spray and a lighter to create a homemade flamethrower, according to the Centralia Police Department.

The small, smoky fire was already out when crews arrived.

The Centralia Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident.
