The Mossyrock Fire Department, with the help of Lewis County Fire District 8, responded to a fire that consumed a recreational vehicle Tuesday night.
Fire Chief Doug Fosburg said the call came through after 6 p.m. for an RV fire on the 100 block of Skyview Drive in Mossyrock. The RV was fully involved when crews arrived.
Firefighters were at the scene for about an hour and a half, Fosburg said, with three trucks and 12 personnel.
“The wind (Tuesday) night didn’t help anything,” Fosburg said about fighting the fire.
The RV was a complete loss, but no other structures were damaged and no one was injured. The RV wasn’t occupied at the time of the fire; it was just being stored, Fosburg said.
The owners are having the cause of the fire investigated by their insurance company. Fosburg said the department suspects that due to the power outages Tuesday when the energy source switched from electric to gas, an issue with the pilot light may have caused the blaze.
