Ferguson’s gem leads Tumwater to win over Prairie

Posted

Ella Ferguson was unhittable on Monday, as she tossed a no-hitter and struck out 17 in Tumwater’s 9-0 win over Prairie.

After the first batter of the game reached on a dropped third strike, Ferguson retired 21 of the final 22 batters she faced, only giving up a walk in the fifth. The Falcons only put the ball in play four times, and the ball never left the infield.

The T-Birds did their part offensively to keep Ferguson comfortable in the circle, scoring three in the third, fifth, and sixth to pull away.

Jaime Haase went 3 for 4 at the plate, including a three-run home run in the fifth. Erika Schock, Megan Barrett, and Elizabeth McCartney all connected for doubles, and Barrett and Schock both drove in a run.

The Thunderbirds (3-1) begin league play on Wednesday, when they’ll host W.F. West.
