A 41-year-old West Linn, Oregon, man is accused of possessing three dozen guns, including three converted into fully automatic machine guns with switch devices.
Also in the cache seized by FBI agents in a June 17 raid of Lucas C. Perillo’s home were 13 unregistered short-barreled rifles, gun silencers and other gun parts, according to prosecutors.
The FBI and the state police investigated the case. The criminal complaint remains sealed.
Perillo was arrested Friday and made his first appearance Monday in U.S. District Court in Portland.
He was appointed an assistant federal public defender, Chandra Peterson, who did not challenge his continued detention.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Armistead ordered Perillo to remain in custody, citing the nature of the alleged crimes, his alleged substance and alcohol abuse issues, prior failures on supervision and a pending arrest warrant in Multnomah County Circuit Court, according to court records.
Court records show the arrest warrant was tied to charges against Perillo on 2019 allegations of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, criminal mischief and driving with a suspended license, according to Multnomah County court records.
He is being held at the Inverness Jail and is due to return to federal court on Aug. 13.
